Membership Types, Privileges and Responsibilities

Active Members shall consist of surgeons and physicians engaged in an active practice dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of vascular disease who have been elected to membership.    

• Have the privilege of voting, holding office and membership on all committees.
• Are required to attend at least one meeting every three years unless an excused absence is granted by the Executive Council prior to the Annual Meeting.
• Are required to pay dues annually.   Dues: $175.00
  

Associate & Allied Health Members shall be individuals who have demonstrated interest and dedication to the study and treatment of vascular diseases who are not surgeons or physicians.  These include, but are not limited to, nurse practitioners and physician assistants, ultrasound technologists, and non-clinical non-trainee researchers (research faculty, research scholars, non-MD graduate students). 

• Does not have voting privileges.
• May be members of Ad Hoc and Standing Committees, and may hold office.
• Are not subject to meeting attendance requirements.
• Are required to pay dues annually.   Dues: $75.00
  

Candidate Members shall consist of medical students, surgery residents in ACGME or AOA accredited training programs or vascular surgery residents/fellows in ACGME or AOA -accredited programs, or those who are actively engaged in the practice of vascular surgery and are within the first 3 years following the successful completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited vascular training program.

• Shall have the privilege of holding membership on all committees.
• Shall not have the privilege of voting or holding office.
• Are not required to pay dues annually.   Dues: $0.00
  

Senior Members shall consist of active members who reach age 65 or who have retired from active practice of vascular surgery. Members who meet this condition may submit a written request to transfer to Senior membership status.

• Have the privilege of voting, holding office and membership on all committees.
• Are not subject to meeting attendance requirements.
• Are not required to pay dues annually.   Dues: $0.00

Honorary Members shall be physicians of special eminence who have made outstanding
contributions in the fields of vascular diseases.

• Shall not have the privilege of voting, holding office or being a member of standing committees.
• May belong to Ad Hoc Committees.
• Are not required to pay dues or conform to meeting requirements.
• May, at their request, change to Active membership with the approval of the Membership
  Committee and the Executive Council.
• Presidential guest lecturers can be made Honorary Members at the discretion of the Executive Council.
• Are not required to pay dues annually.   Dues: $0.00
